Forza Horizon 5 Will Be Available on PS5 This Spring: Here’s Everything You Need to Know
Forza Horizon 5, a popular racing game initially exclusive to Xbox and PC in 2021, is set to launch on the PlayStation 5. Developer Playground Games announced that PlayStation users can explore the game's vast open-world environment starting in Spring 2025. This move aligns with Microsoft's recent strategy of releasing its first-party titles on multiple platforms.
The PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 will be developed by Panic Button in collaboration with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games. It will include all content from the Xbox and PC versions, such as nearly 900 cars and over 40 thematic updates. Players on PS5 can also purchase previously released Car Packs and expansions like Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure.

PlayStation Store Wishlist and Cross-Play Support
Forza Horizon 5 is now available for wishlisting on the PlayStation Store. The game will support cross-play between PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X, allowing players across these platforms to compete together. Details regarding the exact release date within Spring 2025 and pre-order information will be shared later.
A new free content update named Horizon Realms is also in development for Forza Horizon 5. This update will be available on all platforms and offers players a chance to explore a curated collection of fan-favourite Evolving Worlds alongside other surprises.
Microsoft's Multi-Platform Strategy
The announcement follows comments from Xbox chief Phil Spencer, who recently stated that no Xbox exclusive title is off-limits for release on rival platforms. "What we find is we're able to drive a better business that allows us to invest in great game lineup like you saw (at Xbox Developer Direct). And that's our strategy. Our strategy is to allow our games to be available," Spencer mentioned in an interview.
Since its release on November 9, 2021, Forza Horizon 5 has been praised for its expansive open world set in Mexico. The game achieved critical acclaim and commercial success, winning three categories at The Game Awards 2021.
Upcoming Releases from Microsoft
Microsoft continues its trend of releasing first-party games on PS5 and Nintendo Switch. Upcoming titles include Bethesda's Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Doom: The Dark Ages, both slated for PS5 release in 2025.
The developer expressed enthusiasm about expanding the Forza Horizon 5 community with new players on PS5. "We are excited to see the Forza Horizon 5 community grow with new players on PS5, and we can't wait to see the creativity and skill these new creators, builders, and racers will bring to our vibrant community," they stated in their official announcement.
