Google Stadia Might Skip These Promised Features At Launch
Google showcased a cloud-based gaming platform called Google Stadia at the GDC 2019. This gaming console will allow users to play games on entry-level laptops, notebooks, and smartphones as well. The company is planning a launch next week, however, Stadia might not launch with all the key features.
As per Kotaku's report, Google's representatives have answered a few questions during an AMA on Reddit. They have explained what exactly Stadia will arrive with in the beginning. However, they didn't answer all the questions, but they did highlight some points.
According to the Reddit thread, the video game streaming service Stadia will come with limited features and a lot of key features are slated for 2020. So, on November 19 launch we will not witness the console with all its features what company promise at GDC 2019, and we have to wait for Google to unlock them gradually. Here's the list of key features which are not going to be available during launch.
Stream Connect, State Share, And Crowd Play
These are the key features which will allow gamers to join the gameplay with other players. According to Andrey Doronichev, Stadia's director of product, "I expect the first game with Stream Connect to launch by the end of the year. The games that support State Share and Crowd Play will be released next year."
Stadia's Achievement System
The officials also confirmed that players will not be able to see their milestones in the games and get notifications initially. However, Google is said to introduce this feature very soon.
Chromecast Ultras To Play Games
Doronichev stated that the player will not be able to use existing Chromecast Ultras to play games. Only the Chromecast Ultras which comes bundled with Stadia controllers will have the compatibility to play the games on it because it will ship with updated firmware which is required to stream games. Meanwhile, Doronichev confirmed that the team will update the exiting Chromecast Ultras via OTA after the launch.
Family Sharing
This feature will allow parents to monitor their kids and see what they are playing. The parent will have their account which can be shared by multiple people in the house. But the feature will not be available at the launch and it will be launched by next year. "But it's a high priority feature, we're planning to launch early next year," Doronichev said.
Buddy Passes
Stadia Founder Editions is said to arrive with buddy passes. These passes will come with a three-month free subscription to Stadia which will allow your friends to play games with you. But it will not be available at the launch and users will get it two weeks after they receive their bundle.
