GTA 6 Leak Exposes Massive Map and Gameplay Features Rockstar Hasn't Revealed Yet

A major Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) leak has surfaced online, reportedly revealing gameplay footage and a large portion of the game's Leonida map. The material appeared on August 18, just days before Rockstar Games is expected to showcase more of the highly anticipated title.

The leaked footage was reportedly shared by a group calling itself Cyberleek, while Take-Two Interactive has issued copyright takedown notices against copies circulating online. Although Rockstar and Take-Two have not publicly confirmed the authenticity of the material, the rapid takedowns have added weight to reports that the footage is genuine.

GTA 6 Leak Shows New Gameplay Mechanics

The leaked GTA 6 gameplay appears to showcase several mechanics that could make the upcoming game more detailed than GTA 5.

One clip reportedly shows protagonist Jason Duval playing basketball, with successful shots increasing a Focus stat. Another shows Jason involved in a road-rage encounter that escalates into a melee fight.

The footage also appears to show a stamina system for melee combat, with Jason's stamina decreasing during the fight. Reports suggest that performing particularly violent actions can trigger a negative morality or honour indicator, drawing comparisons with systems seen in Red Dead Redemption 2. These details remain based on leaked footage and have not been officially confirmed.

GTA 6 Could Bring Back the Six-Star Wanted Level

One of the biggest details reportedly revealed by the leak is the return of the six-star Wanted Level.

The leaked footage suggests GTA 6 could feature a more sophisticated police system, with law enforcement potentially tracking information such as the player's clothing, face and getaway vehicle. This could encourage players to change outfits or switch cars while attempting to escape the police.

The reported system appears considerably more detailed than the Wanted mechanics in GTA 5, although Rockstar has not officially confirmed these features.

GTA 6 Could Add Fuel, Vehicle Damage and Trunk Storage

The leaked gameplay also reportedly shows additional vehicle-related mechanics.

Cars appear to feature fuel and engine-condition indicators, suggesting that vehicle maintenance could become part of the gameplay. Vehicles may also have trunk storage with multiple loadout slots, potentially giving players another way to manage weapons and equipment.

These systems could add another layer of realism to GTA 6, particularly during long drives or missions.

GTA 6 Leonida Map Details Leak Online

A map reportedly included in the leak provides a broader look at Leonida, the fictional US state that serves as GTA 6's setting.

The leaked map appears to divide Leonida into five counties, including Vice Dale, Kelly, Leonard, Mariana and Lummox. Vice City is positioned along the eastern coastline, while the wider map features rural areas, highways, racing circuits and other locations. Lummox County is reportedly one of the areas not previously shown in official promotional material.

Another reported feature is a map icon that can track Jason's location, potentially allowing players to monitor the other protagonist while playing.

GTA 6 Has Faced Multiple Leaks

This is not the first major GTA 6 leak. In 2022, a massive breach exposed numerous development videos from the game. The latest leak arrives shortly before Rockstar's next major promotional push.

Rockstar is scheduled to present an extended look at GTA 6 on August 27, while the game is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026.

For now, players should treat the reported gameplay mechanics and map details as unconfirmed until Rockstar officially reveals them. The leaked footage may represent an earlier development build and therefore may not accurately reflect the final version of GTA 6.
