GTA 6 May Need A Massive Amount Of Storage, Latest Leak Suggests

GTA 6 is, without a doubt, the biggest game launch of the year and it may also take up a huge chunk of your console’s storage. A new leak suggests that Rockstar Games’ upcoming open-world title could require over 200GB of space to install. While the company has not confirmed the figure, it gives players an idea of how much room they may need to make for the game. And if you have a low-storage console, well, good luck!

GTA 6 could take up 210GB of storage space

According to an X account, PlayStation Game Size, GTA 6 will come with an install size of 210GB. The account is known for tracking game files and updates on PlayStation, but Rockstar has not confirmed the reported storage requirement.

If true, the game would need a considerable amount of space on your console. The base PS5 offers less than 1TB of usable storage, which means players who already have several large games installed may need to remove some titles or consider expanding their storage.

The reported size is also significant when compared with other major games. Elden Ring takes up around 65GB, while Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 requires roughly 98GB. Assassin’s Creed Shadows also crosses the 100GB mark. GTA 6’s reported 210GB install size would put it well above these titles.

However, a larger file size does not necessarily mean that GTA 6 is twice as large in terms of content or world design. Factors such as textures, audio, assets and how a game is optimised can all affect its storage requirements. The final install size could also change before launch, or differ between platforms.

GTA 6 is the next major entry in Rockstar Games’ open-world action series. The game is officially scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, two characters who find themselves caught up in a criminal conspiracy after a job goes wrong. The game is set in Leonida, a fictional US state inspired by Florida. Its locations include Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.

Rockstar has released two official trailers, along with character details and screenshots, offering an early look at the setting and story. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has also reaffirmed that the November 19, 2026, console launch remains on track.

For now, the reported 210GB install size, PC launch window, PC system requirements, pricing and pre-order details remain unconfirmed. Players will have to wait for Rockstar to share more information as the launch date approaches.
