BGMI 4.4 Update Is Now Live: Check 5th Anniversary Events and What’s Included

KRAFTON India just dropped its massive BGMI 4.4 update, and it marks a pretty significant shift for the popular mobile shooter. Instead of just giving players new things to buy, the developers are turning the game into a bit of a creative platform by introducing cosmetics designed by the community itself.

The timing lines up with Battlegrounds Mobile India hitting its five-year milestone, having racked up over 260 million downloads since launch. Like all standard updates, the version 4.4 download itself is completely free to install on iOS and Android devices, though the game's usual optional in-app currency purchases remain for crates and cosmetic spins.

Community Designs and Iconic Crate Returns

The biggest structural change in this update is the BGMI Design Contest Spin, which runs from June 16 to July 17, 2026.

• For the first time, seven premium in-game collectibles originally imagined by players during a Diwali 2025 contest are becoming actual items you can collect.

• This includes a custom Fortune Teller AWM weapon skin.

If you've been waiting for classic weapon cosmetics to make a comeback, KRAFTON is opening the vault for a few highly requested items.

• Glacier Spin (May 26 – June 1, 2026): Offers the M416 Glacier skin, Glacier Set, and Glacier Helmet. Notably, the developers say this is the absolute last time this specific spin will feature a standard UC purchase option.

• AKM Glacier (June 28 – July 2, 2026): The community's most-wishlisted AKM skin lands in the Classic Crate right before the anniversary window.

• Mummy Crate (July 3 – September 1, 2026): Anchors the post-anniversary window, debuting a new Chaos Calamity AWM skin alongside the brand-new Chaosphage outfit.

Massive Map Changes and Real-World Brands

On the gameplay side, a new Hellenistic-themed mode called Hero's Crown completely reshapes Erangel from May 20 to July 14, 2026.

• Map Overhauls: The update completely renovates major drop locations like Ruins and Ferry Pier.

• Floating Island: It introduces a Greek-style floating island called Crown's Abode, split between a player-versus-player area and a boss arena where you fight a centaur named Helios.

• Dinosaur Mode: The Dinoground mode is returning as an Erangel-exclusive feature starting June 8, 2026.

Real-world luxury and automotive brands are also getting a spotlight in this update cycle.

• Ford Collaboration (May 20 – July 7, 2026): Brings two car skins with unique color variants through a Motor Cruise mechanic.

• Harley-Davidson Collaboration (May 29 – July 11, 2026): Joins the mix via a Special Crate featuring four exclusive motorcycle skins.

• Creator Voice Packs: Indian creators Bhuvan Bam and Ravi Gupta are getting dedicated celebrity voice pack spins. Bhuvan Bam’s pack drops on June 10 and includes a Fortune Cat Mini-14 gun skin, while Ravi Gupta’s spin follows closely on June 19.

Celebrating Five Years in India

To mark the official fifth anniversary on July 2, 2026, KRAFTON is hosting an in-game exchange event from June 25 to July 5. Players can hunt down tokens inside dedicated anniversary points of interest on the Erangel and Livik maps to unlock free rewards.

There is also a virtual fireworks display scheduled inside the game on July 1 and July 5, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM IST. Anyone who logs in during those windows will receive a temporary firework launcher item to join in on the celebration.
