LG and Microsoft Turn Cars into Xbox Cloud Gaming Consoles: Here's Everything You Need to Know
Imagine embarking on a lengthy road trip with your family, and the kids in the backseat keep asking, "Are we there yet?" Or perhaps you're driving an electric vehicle (EV) and the charging process seems endless. In such moments, having a game to play would be ideal. But what if you could play an Xbox game directly on your car's built-in screen? Thanks to Microsoft and LG, this will soon be possible.
Microsoft and LG have announced a collaboration to integrate Xbox Cloud Gaming into select internet-connected vehicles. This partnership utilises LG's Automotive Content Platform (ACP), powered by webOS software, allowing passengers to stream and play Xbox games on car infotainment screens. The service requires an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, a compatible Bluetooth controller, and an automotive data plan for cloud streaming.

Xbox Gaming in Cars
The Xbox app will be available natively on LG webOS ACP for supported vehicles. Users won't need external devices; they can simply launch the app, log in, connect their controller, and start playing. Although currently limited to certain vehicles like specific Kia models in Europe, this feature is a significant step in Microsoft's strategy to make gaming more accessible.
This system is designed for entertainment during long trips or while cars are parked or charging. It complies with driving safety regulations by preventing gameplay when the car is moving. This ensures that both drivers and passengers can enjoy gaming without compromising safety.
Microsoft aims to extend the Xbox ecosystem across various devices, turning anything with a screen and internet connection into a potential Xbox platform. This initiative marks a notable advancement in making gaming more accessible to users worldwide.
