Marvel's Wolverine Will Support 60fps Ray Tracing on PS5 at Launch: New Game Plus Confirmed

Insomniac Games has revealed new details about Marvel's Wolverine, including its graphics modes, performance target and post-launch replay features. The upcoming action-adventure game will run at 60fps with ray tracing enabled by default on the base PS5, marking the first time the studio has made a ray-traced 60fps mode the default presentation in one of its games.

The developer has also confirmed that New Game Plus and Mission Replay will be available at launch, giving players additional ways to revisit the story after completing the main campaign.

Marvel's Wolverine Release Date and Availability

Marvel's Wolverine will launch exclusively for PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026. The game is currently available for pre-order through the PlayStation Store in Standard and Digital Deluxe editions.

The title is a linear, story-driven adventure rather than an open-world game. However, Insomniac says players will have additional challenges and replay options beyond the main storyline.

The game will also be PS5 Pro Enhanced, with support for Sony's PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology for improved image quality on the upgraded console.

Marvel's Wolverine PS5 Performance and Graphics Modes

Marvel's Wolverine will offer Performance and Fidelity graphics modes on PS5. Insomniac has built the game around its Performance mode, which targets 60fps with ray tracing on the standard PS5.

The mode achieves its performance target by using dynamic resolution while retaining ray-tracing effects. This approach is similar to the Performance-RT modes used in earlier Insomniac titles, including Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

According to the developer, achieving 60fps on the base PS5 was an early priority during development, with the team designing the game around that target.

Destructible Environments and Replay Features

Insomniac has also invested heavily in physics-based environmental destruction. Many objects, including market stalls, tables and other props, can react dynamically to combat. The developer says this is intended to make the aftermath of Wolverine's fights feel more consequential.

For replayability, Mission Replay will allow players to revisit completed levels, while New Game Plus lets them begin another playthrough while retaining their unlocked gear, loadout and progression. The mode will also introduce gameplay changes that can increase combat difficulty.

With 60fps ray tracing as the default on PS5, PS5 Pro enhancements and New Game Plus available from day one, Insomniac is positioning Marvel's Wolverine as a technically focused action game with additional replay options beyond its main campaign.
