Microsoft Integrates Steam with Xbox App for Windows, Offering All Your PC Games in One Place
Microsoft is introducing a new feature in its Xbox PC app on Windows, allowing Xbox Insiders to access an aggregated gaming library. This update will enable users to view their Steam and Battle.net games within the Xbox app, creating a unified launcher for most installed PC games. The feature aims to enhance the Xbox app's role as the central hub for PC gaming, competing with platforms like Steam.
The consolidated library will be available later this year on the Xbox app and new devices such as ROG Xbox Ally handhelds. Microsoft's goal is to integrate Windows and Xbox gaming experiences seamlessly. "When a player installs a game from a supported PC storefront, it will automatically appear in 'My library' within the Xbox PC app," explains Manisha Oza, product manager of the Xbox platform.

Enhanced Gaming Experience
To try out this new feature, users can download the Xbox Insider Hub on their PCs and join the PC gaming preview. This allows them to manage game visibility by hiding any PC storefront in the Library & Extensions section of the app settings. Microsoft plans to expand support for additional PC storefronts over time.
The initiative reflects Microsoft's efforts to make the Xbox app on Windows more competitive with Steam and SteamOS by offering a comprehensive gaming experience. The integration of various game libraries into one platform simplifies access and enhances user convenience.
Creating a Unifyed Ecosystem
This development is part of Microsoft's broader strategy to unify its gaming ecosystem across different devices and platforms. By consolidating game libraries, Microsoft aims to provide gamers with seamless access to their favourite titles without switching between multiple launchers.
The introduction of this aggregated library marks a significant step towards achieving that goal. It underscores Microsoft's commitment to enhancing user experience by integrating various aspects of its gaming services into one cohesive platform.
As Microsoft continues to roll out these updates, gamers can look forward to an increasingly streamlined experience when accessing their games through the Xbox app on Windows. This initiative highlights Microsoft's dedication to staying competitive in the ever-evolving landscape of digital gaming platforms.
