Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass Price Hikes in India Won’t Affect All Users: Here’s Everything You Need to Know
Microsoft's recent announcement of a price increase for Xbox Game Pass has stirred reactions among gamers worldwide. Many have voiced their discontent on platforms like Reddit, with some even cancelling their subscriptions. However, not all users will be impacted by this change. Let's delve into who might still enjoy the current rates.
The tech giant has introduced a temporary hold on the planned price hikes for existing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers in select countries. This decision affects regions such as Germany, Ireland, South Korea, Poland, and India. Subscribers in these areas can continue paying the current rates if they maintain auto-renewal.

Xbox Game Pass Pricing Changes
On October 1, 2025, Microsoft unveiled changes to its subscription tiers. The Ultimate plan in the U.S. saw a 50% increase to $29.99 monthly. Meanwhile, new subscribers in affected regions will face immediate price adjustments. Future changes will be communicated with at least 60 days' notice to adhere to local laws.
In India, the Ultimate pass now costs Rs. 1,389 per month, marking a 67.5% rise from its previous Rs. 829 price tag. The Premium tier increased to Rs. 699 from Rs. 619, while the Essential tier jumped from Rs. 349 to Rs. 499 monthly.
Subscribers in the U.S. and U.K are already experiencing these new prices as the delay doesn't apply there. Microsoft clarified that existing users on auto-renewal plans won't see changes unless they cancel and resubscribe; then they'll face new rates.
As Microsoft navigates these pricing adjustments, existing subscribers in affected nations can continue enjoying their current rates for now. New users must consider updated pricing when subscribing to Xbox Game Pass.
