Nintendo projects a total sale of 14 million units of the Switch in financial year 2017-18
Nintendo has released the sales figures for the Switch in the second quarter of the financial year 2017-18 and has also projected a sale of total 14 million units in the entire financial year.
Nintendo seems to be more confident about its latest console, the Switch, which is quite evident with the latest sales forecast the gaming brand has presented. The gadget's latest sales numbers for the second consecutive quarter has been strong and thus the brand has raised the bar for competitors by presenting the latest sales forecast which demands 14 million units to be sold out in the financial year 2017-18. The earlier projection estimated a sale of 10 million units.
The Switch was released in March 2017 and within first four weeks of its release, the device witnessed a sale of 2.74 million units which is quite astounding. Nintendo also managed to ship a total of 2.93 million devices in the second quarter of the financial year. The total units that have been shipped till date now stand at an impressive 7.63 million.
Given the fact that the holiday season in Europe and US have always been a life saver for gizmos it is safe to assume that the Switch won't see a decline in numbers for the last quarter of 2017. The device has already completed half the target and with an immense popularity it has developed for its features it is safe to assume that it will have very little trouble hitting the target.
However, one of the major concerns related to the sales projections is the supply and production management which has already been sluggish. Nintendo needs to ramp up the production in order to reach the magic number.
It is also worth mentioning here that the Nintendo Wii U could manage to ship only 13 million units in its five years of lifespan.
