NYT Connections Puzzle #764: Categories, Clues, and Full Answer for July 14

Connections is one of the New York Times’ latest word games, and it has steadily built a loyal following since its debut. Developed with the input of associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, the game offers a fresh challenge every day by asking players to group related words together based on hidden themes.

Like Wordle, Connections resets daily at midnight and is playable across browsers and mobile devices.

How to Play Connections

The puzzle presents 16 words. Your task is to group them into four sets of four words each, with each set sharing a common theme. These themes can range from colors and professions to pop culture references, linguistic patterns, or conceptual categories.

Once you correctly identify a group, those four words disappear from the board. If you make an incorrect guess, it counts as a mistake. Players are allowed up to four mistakes before the game ends. Rearranging the words is encouraged and often helps spot hidden groupings.

Each set of words falls into one of four difficulty levels, represented by color: yellow (easiest), green, blue, and purple (most difficult). Only one valid solution exists each day.
