NYT Connections #775: Hints, Categories, and the Full Answer for July 25, 2025
If you're stuck on today’s Connections puzzle, you’re not the only one. Puzzle #775 threw in a few tricky groupings, especially the purple one.
If you want a little help or just want to see the answers, you're in the right place.

What’s Connections Again?
Connections is one of the newer daily word games from the New York Times. The idea is simple enough: you’re given 16 words, and your job is to sort them into four groups of four. Each group has something in common. Sometimes it’s obvious. Other times, it’s incredibly specific or just a bit sneaky.
The game resets at midnight, just like Wordle, and you can play it on your phone or on a web browser.
When you find a correct group, it disappears from the board. If you guess wrong, it counts as a mistake. You’ve got four chances before the game ends. You can also shuffle the board to look at the words differently, which sometimes helps.
There’s also a difficulty system, though the game doesn’t explain it too much. Basically:
-
Yellow is usually the easiest group
-
Green tends to be straightforward but not obvious
-
Blue often involves pop culture or sports
-
Purple is usually the most obscure or oddball category
Want Some Hints for Today?
If you’d rather try solving it yourself but need a little push, here are light hints based on each group:
- Yellow: Discreet
- Green: There are 50 of them
- Blue: You might hear these during a baseball game
- Purple: Common phrases that start with "Queen"
