Upcoming Game Releases

Last week, a trailer for the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater appeared briefly on the PlayStation Store. It suggested that the game might be featured in the State of Play showcase. The trailer confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater would launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X on August 25, 2025.

Other previously announced titles might also receive updates during the showcase. While it's unlikely that Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will be shown again so soon after its reveal at The Game Awards 2024, there could be more information about Ghost of Yotei from Sucker Punch.

Anticipated Announcements

Ghost of Yotei was first announced during Sony's State of Play in September 2024. The trailer confirmed a release date in 2025. More details or even a specific release date might be shared at the upcoming event.

Fans are also eager for updates on Marvel's Wolverine by Insomniac Games. Despite being revealed in 2021, no release date has been announced yet. The State of Play event could finally provide some news about this highly anticipated superhero game.

Additional Updates

Kojima Productions' Death Stranding 2: On the Beach might also receive attention during the showcase. Additionally, there could be news about Phantom Blade Zero, a wuxia-themed action RPG. Fans are curious about what Santa Monica Studio is working on next after their last update for God of War Ragnarok in December 2023.

The previous State of Play took place on September 24, 2024. During that event, Sony unveiled Ghost of Yotei and showcased over 20 games for PS5 and PS VR2. "State of Play is back tomorrow, February 12! Tune in live for news and updates on great games coming to PS5," stated Sony in a blog post. "The show celebrates a creative and unique selection of exciting games from studios around the world."
