Riteish And Genelia Deshmukh Become India's First Pokémon Go Brand Ambassadors
Bollywood actors Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh have been announced as the first Indian brand ambassadors for Pokémon Go. This announcement was made during the Pokémon Festivities event in Mumbai on October 16. As part of this collaboration, videos will soon be released featuring the couple sharing their experiences with the game.
The Festival of Lights event in Bengaluru is scheduled for November 3, 2024, at Phoenix Marketcity. During this event, Pikachu will make an appearance dressed in a saree, and there will be surprises and giveaways for players. Additionally, a sweepstake on Instagram offers two lucky winners from India a chance to attend the Pokémon Go City Safari in São Paulo.

Bollywood Meets Gaming
This collaboration isn't Bollywood's first venture into mobile gaming. Battlegrounds Mobile India recently partnered with Deepika Padukone, introducing in-game skins inspired by her. The game has also collaborated with other actors and sports figures, showcasing the growing trend of Bollywood stars engaging with gaming platforms.
Genelia expressed her excitement about the collaboration: "As a mom and a proud Indian, the Festival of Lights event is a beautiful blend of tradition and technology," she said. "It's incredible to see Pokémon Go celebrate Indian culture in such a fun and engaging way, with characters like Pikachu wearing a saree! Pokémon has always been special to me, and Pikachu is both my kids' favourite. Seeing it in a saree is a wonderful experience, and being able to share this joy with my family and the world through such an innovative approach is truly exciting."

Celebrating Culture Through Technology
Riteish shared his enthusiasm for being part of the Pokémon Go family: "As someone who loves technology and gaming, being part of the Pokémon Go family feels like a natural fit. I've been playing this game since it launched in India in 2016, and now promoting it is thrilling. It not only encourages fun but also keeps our cultural heritage alive in such an interactive way."
The collaboration aims to blend traditional Indian culture with modern technology through events like these. By incorporating elements like Pikachu dressed in traditional attire, Pokémon Go seeks to engage Indian audiences uniquely.
