Rockstar Is Offering Free GTA 5 Upgrades to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, Reveals New GTA Online Heist
Rockstar has announced that GTA 5 players on PS4, Xbox One, and PC can upgrade to newer versions of the game for free. The timing lines up with a new GTA Online heist coming in July, and it's a pretty good reason to dust off the game if you haven't played in a while.

Free Upgrades Start June 18
If you own GTA 5 on PS4 or the digital Xbox One version, you can now grab the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S edition at no extra cost. You keep your Story Mode and GTA Online progress, and you get access to things like Hao's Special Works vehicles, Career Progress rewards, and the general technical improvements that came with the current-gen versions.
PC players aren't left out either. If you're on the Legacy edition, you can move to the Enhanced version for free. That gets you ray-traced ambient occlusion and global illumination on top of everything else. GTA Plus subscribers also get a new perk: access to GTA 5 Story Mode through the GTA Plus Games Library.
The Kortz Centre Heist Is Coming in July
The bigger news for active players is probably the new heist. Rockstar is bringing GTA Online: The Kortz Centre Heist in July, and the target this time is an art gallery in the hills of Pacific Bluffs. It's a multi-stage job where you scope out the location first and then plan your approach. To even get access, you need an Art Studio installed in a Mansion property, so there's some setup involved.
In the weeks before it drops, Rockstar is running bonus GTA$ events, discounts on in-game content, and a Fine Art Collector programme with rare items up for grabs. GTA Plus members get a GTA$2,000,000 discount on Mansion properties, and everyone gets a limited-time 40 percent bonus on Shark Card purchases.
The Kortz Centre Heist launches in July across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
