Sony PlayStation 5 Controller Patent Reveals Next-Gen Design
Sony is planning to launch its most-awaited PlayStation 5 console in the holiday season of 2020. There is already a lot of buzz about the console on the internet. Now, the patent of the PS5 controller has been surfaced on the web showcasing the first glimpse of the console. The leaked images of the controller look similar to the Dual Shock 4. However, the patent indicates some major changes with the controller.
Currently, there is no name for the controller, like Dual Shock 5. The patent indicates a smaller stick, bigger triggers, a USB Type-C Port, and there is no light bar on the next-generation controller. However, this is not the final version and the company can make some changes with the PlayStation 5 controller ahead of the official launch. Just like what they did with the PlayStation 3 boomerang controller.
Do note that the Dual Shock 4 touchpad is still there on the place and the design also looks similar. In the previous discussions, Sony has intended that haptics will replace the standard rumble in the new controllers. The L2 and R2 triggers are also said to be replaced by adaptive triggers which will deliver a better response. Also developers are working on new programs for adding resistance feature which will make the R2 button harder to press if a character in the game is pushing something heavy.
For example, if you are pushing a big rock to unlock a gate in God of War then the R2 button will become harder to press and deliver a realistic gaming experience.
The patent has not revealed any specification about the upcoming next-gen alleged Dual Shock 5 controller. However, do note that this information not confirmed by the company and we recommend you to take this with a pinch of salt and wait for the official launch of the console.
