Sony PlayStation Portal Launched in India: Stream PS5 Games in 1080p with DualSense Controls

Sony has launched the PlayStation Portal in India, a handheld gaming device that lets you stream your PS5 games remotely over your home Wi-Fi network. This eliminates the need to be tethered to your TV for uninterrupted PlayStation gaming.

Stream PS5 Games on the Go (Almost)

The PlayStation Portal isn't a standalone console. Instead, it acts as a remote play device for your PS5. You can access your entire PS5 library, including compatible PS4 titles installed on your console, directly on the Portal's screen.

Designed for Seamless Remote Play

The Portal connects quickly to your PS5, allowing you to jump into games with minimal delay. It boasts an 8-inch LCD display with Full HD resolution and a smooth 60fps refresh rate for a console-like experience.

DualSense Experience On-the-Go

The Portal replicates the full functionality of the DualSense wireless controller, including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. This ensures you get the same immersive experience with responsive vibrations and dynamic resistance in supported games.

How It Functions

For optimal performance, it requires a Wi-Fi connection of at least 5Mbps, with 15Mbps recommended. Compatible with PS5 and PS4 games installed on the PS5, the device excludes games requiring VR headsets or additional peripherals. It features the DualSense Wireless Controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for an immersive gaming experience. The PS5 must be powered on or in Rest Mode and paired with the Remote Player to function.

This setup allows users to stream and play their PS5 games on the device, even if someone else is using the TV connected to the console.

Ports and Connectivity

In addition to its gaming capabilities, the PlayStation Portal features several connectivity options, including a USB Type-C port for charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Sony's proprietary PS Link feature, and Wi-Fi 5. Notably, the device does not support Bluetooth connectivity.

The PlayStation Portal Remote Player is priced at Rs. 18,990 and will be available from August 3, 2024. It can be purchased through Sony Centres, Amazon.in, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance, Vijay Sales, Blinkit, and other participating retailers.
