PlayStation Showcase 2023: Biggest News From Sony’s Gaming Event

Sony Confirms Project Q And PlayStation Buds Accessories For PS5 And PC Gaming

Remember the Sony PlayStation Portable or PSP? Sony is once again dabbling in handheld gaming hardware. However, this time, the company is taking a very conservative approach.

The Sony Project Q is essentially a remote, wireless streaming device for the PS5 console. It's designed for playing PS5 games remotely on the same Wi-Fi network. Simply put, it has a large screen that is nestled in between a Dual-Sense PS5 Controller.

Sony is also launching its own pair of wireless earbuds. During the PlayStation Showcase, Sony revealed the premium Bluetooth-enabled earbuds that anyone can use with the PlayStation 5, PC, or with the Project Q handheld device.

Sony indicated there's a "new wireless technology developed by SIE", which is slated to arrive later this year. It will make the earbuds capable of delivering lossless audio with low latency.

Sony Announces Multiple Game Titles For The PS5 And PS VR2

Some of the biggest announcements in the Sony PlayStation Showcase event were obviously about games. Sony offered a short preview of Spider-Man 2, which includes Peter Parker in his symbiote suit.

Sony also confirmed a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is in the works. It is called Metal Gear Solid Delta. The Japanese tech giant also revealed a new trailer for Final Fantasy XVI. Incidentally, Bungie is reviving its pre-Halo Marathon title for a new "sci-fi PvP extraction shooter."

Additionally, the event had updates about some new IP as well, which include Fairgames from Jade Raymond's Haven Studios, Neva, and Sword of the Sea.

A considerable part of the Sony PlayStation Showcase was dedicated to the company's PSVR 2 Virtual Reality headset. Sony revealed Beat Saber would be launching on Wednesday for the PlayStation VR2.

Gamers who already own Beat Saber for the original PSVR will get a free upgrade to the PSVR 2 version. Sony also revealed that gamers will be able to buy a Queen-themed music pack for the game.

Sony also revealed brief footage of the in-development VR mode for the recently released Resident Evil 4 remake. The game isn't finished, and Sony hasn't even hinted at any tentative release date. Other titles that were on display, included Crossfire: Sierra Squad and Synapse.
