Following Union Budget 2018 announcement, the Indian government had decided to increase customs duty from 10 percent to 20 percent. As a result, this has now affected many brands especially those who manufacture goods outside India. While Apple has increased the prices of its products now Sony seems to be heading towards the same path.
The Japanese firm has now increased the prices of its gaming consoles which include PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro. These new prices will be levied on all the new stock of the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim imported into India. with immediate effect. As such PS4 Pro which initially debuted at Rs. 38,990 will see a price hike as the first batch of stock is already depleted. Whereas older PS4 Slim stock will still be available at its earlier price until new shipments arrive in the country.
According to reports and multiple retailers, PS4 Pro will be priced at Rs. 41,990 and it will be available starting from February 21 onwards.
As for PS4 Slim, Gadgets 360 notes that the console will see a significant price hike as well. The 500GB variant will come at a new price of Rs. 31,990 while the 1TB PS4 Slim will cost Rs. 35,990. Earlier stocks were priced at Rs. 28,990 and Rs. 32,990 respectively.
Sony India is yet to give their statement regarding the matter and we will update you with the same once we have the details.
Apart from gaming consoles, practically all electronic goods especially smartphones will be seeing a price hike. We might see a surge in price on products from brands like Sony, Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, LG, and others. Apart from this what do you think of the new budget announcement?
