Sony Unveils PSVR 2 PC Adapter: Will be Available for Purchase from August 7 for $60
Sony has introduced the PSVR 2 PC adapter, enabling PlayStation 5 VR headset users to connect to a gaming PC and access SteamVR's extensive game library. The adapter, priced at $59.99 / £49.99, will be available from August 7. Purchases can be made through PlayStation Direct or select retailers yet to be disclosed.
The adapter mandates a DisplayPort cable compatible with DisplayPort 1.4, which is not included. Users must connect the adapter and DisplayPort cable to their PC and PSVR 2 headset, then download the SteamVR and PSVR 2 apps on Steam. After the initial setup, users can access SteamVR games.

Minimum System Requirements for PSVR 2 on PC
Sony has also provided the minimum system requirements for using the PSVR 2 headset on a PC:
| Component | Specification |
|---|---|
| Operating System | Windows 10 64-bit / Windows 11 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 3 3100 (Zen 2 or later) |
| RAM | 8GB or more |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or later / NVIDIA RTX series / AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or later / AMD Radeon RX 6500XT or later |
| DisplayPort | DisplayPort 1.4 |
| USB | Direct connection only |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth 4.0 or later |
For PSVR 2 owners disheartened by the slow software release schedule on PS5, this adapter offers access to numerous SteamVR titles, including Half-Life: Alyx. However, the $59.99 / £49.99 cost might deter some users, especially after paying $549.99 / £529.99 for the PSVR 2 headset. Currently, the headset is available at a $100 discount during PlayStation's Days of Play celebration, ending June 12.

Sony's latest hardware update aims to bridge the gap for VR enthusiasts by integrating the PSVR 2 with the broader gaming ecosystem available on PCs. In a blog post, Sony explained that some features will be different depending on whether you're playing on PS5 or PC.
The post read, "PS VR2 was designed from the ground up specifically for PS5 - so you'll notice that some key features, like HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback (other than rumble), are not available when playing on PC."
However, there is support for various high-fidelity and sensory immersion features, including 4K visuals (2000 x 2040 per eye), a 110-degree field of view, finger touch detection, and a see-through view. It also offers foveated rendering (without eye tracking) and 3D Audio in compatible games.
