Steam Deck OLED Launched with HDR, Improved Battery, 6nm AMD APU

Valve first unveiled its handheld gaming console back in 2021. And now, two years after its launch, the Steam Deck is finally getting refreshed. The latest version of the Steam Deck arrives with an OLED display.

The Steam Deck OLED ditches the LCD screen for an OLED display with HDR support. Apart from the deep blacks, another advantage of the Steam Deck OLED is its peak brightness of 1,000 nits.

Steam Deck OLED Price

The Steam Deck OLED price is set at $549 (roughly Rs 45,750) for the 512GB variant. Additionally, doubling the storage to 1TB will set you back $649 (roughly Rs 54,050).

The Steam Deck OLED will go on sale from November 16, although it isn't likely to make its debut in India. Moreover, the 256GB model of the original Steam Deck with the LCD screen also receives a price cut to $399 (roughly Rs 33,250).

Steam Deck OLED Specifications, Features

The biggest difference on the new Steam Deck is its 7.4-inch OLED display with a 1280 x 800-pixel resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The panel boasts a peak brightness of 1,000 nis and 110% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. The Steam Deck also packs a slightly larger battery with a 50-watt-hour capacity as opposed to 40 watt-hours on the original Steam Deck.

The Steam Deck OLED uses a 6nm AMD "Sephiroth" APU, which has shrunk from 7nm to be more efficient. The new Steam Deck OLED also offers higher fidelity haptics, a redesigned trackpad, and a higher 180Hz touchscreen polling rate. The loudspeaker comes with improved bass, while the size of the heatsink has also increased.

Connectivity options on the Steam Deck OLED include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, AptX HD and AptX Low Latency, and more. The OLED version of the Steam Deck also weighs 30 grams less. It also offers better battery life and faster charging support.
