Ubisoft Confirms Assassin’s Creed Shadows Launch for Switch 2 on December 2

If you’ve been waiting to play Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Nintendo’s latest console, the wait is almost over. Ubisoft just confirmed that the latest entry in the long-running franchise will drop on Switch 2 starting December 2, 2025.

What’s New for Switch 2 Users?

The Switch 2 version won’t just be a straight port. Ubisoft’s bringing in new features—like touchscreen support for every menu. So, whether you’re plotting on the world map or browsing the in-game store, you’ll be able to tap around, making it a lot more intuitive. Just note: the Claws of Awaji add-on is coming later in 2026, so it won’t be included at launch.

Updates and Free Content on the Way

Already played Shadows elsewhere? Good news. The Switch 2 edition ships with all the free post-launch content released so far (again, minus Claws of Awaji). On top of that, Ubisoft rolled out its fall roadmap:

• An “advanced parkour” option in late October, bringing new movement mechanics like side and back ejects
• New corrupted castles and Animus anomalies for replay value
• A free story quest dropping in November called “Puzzlement,” promising lighter, more humorous writing and environmental puzzles
• Collaborative content teased for later

Cross-Progression and Touch Features Make It Fresh

If you play on Ubisoft Connect, your progress can jump over to Switch 2. All menus—including your hideout and store—support touch interaction, which could give the gameplay a fresh feel.

A Big Holiday for Switch Gamers

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has already landed on PC, PS5, and Xbox consoles. The Switch 2 version bundles the most recent fixes and updates, giving handheld fans their own slice of Edo-period action soon.
