Want to Play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Before Launch? Activision Has Good News
Activision has confirmed that players who pre-order Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will get early access to the game's single-player campaign. The highly anticipated shooter is set to launch on October 23 across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, but eligible players can jump into the campaign a full week earlier.
The announcement marks the return of campaign early access to the franchise after a brief hiatus, while also bringing back a traditional offline single-player experience following last year's always-online campaign approach.

Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access Details
According to Activision, players who digitally pre-order either the Standard Edition or Vault Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will gain access to the campaign starting October 16.
The early access offer will be available on Xbox Series X/S, the Xbox app on PC, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. While pre-orders are already live on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms, Switch 2 pre-orders are expected to begin later this year.
This is the first Call of Duty title to feature campaign early access since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in 2023. Both Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 skipped the feature, with the latter introducing the franchise's first always-online co-op campaign.
Story Takes Players From South Korea to Mumbai
Modern Warfare 4's campaign centers on Private Park, a young South Korean soldier whose unit is thrust into a devastating conflict after North Korea launches a full-scale invasion.
Alongside Park's storyline, players will also follow Captain Price as he embarks on a covert mission to track down a dangerous weapon capable of escalating the conflict even further.
Infinity Ward has described the campaign as a grounded and realistic military thriller focused on immersion and authenticity. The story will span multiple locations around the world, including South Korea, New York, Paris, and Mumbai.
Return to an Offline Single-Player Experience
One of the biggest changes in Modern Warfare 4 is the return of a traditional offline single-player campaign. The move comes after criticism directed at Black Ops 7's always-online campaign structure, which many players felt limited accessibility and long-term playability.
By bringing back an offline experience alongside campaign early access, Activision appears to be responding directly to community feedback.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches worldwide on October 23 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Activision has also confirmed that the game will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
