Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition Console and Controller Announced to Commemorate 25th Anniversary
Microsoft is marking 25 years of Xbox with a new limited-edition hardware bundle called the Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection. The set combines a custom Xbox Series X and an Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition, both styled in translucent “OG Green” plastic that recalls the original 2001 Xbox and its early accessories.
The anniversary bundle retains the full performance of a standard Xbox Series X, including 1 TB of internal storage, but changes how the console and controller look and feel. Microsoft highlights the collection as a tribute to Xbox history and long-time players, with several small design references built into both devices.

Series X25 Limited Edition Console Design and Features
The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition is the headline item in the Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection and is the first current-generation Xbox console with a translucent casing. The outer shell uses the classic green tint while exposing internal components, so fans can see the console’s structure instead of a solid-colour enclosure.
Microsoft also alters the power button on the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition to echo the first-generation console. The familiar circular “X” power icon now glows green when the system is switched on, similar to the original startup animation, and an official Xbox 25th Anniversary logo appears on the front panel with other commemorative graphics.
Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection Controller and X25 Special Edition Details
The Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition, included in the Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection, follows the same translucent theme. Its front shell uses see-through green plastic, and the ABXY buttons keep their classic colour layout from the early Xbox era, giving a more retro look while keeping the latest controller shape and features.
On the X25 Special Edition controller, the top bumpers reference the original “Duke” controller, which used dedicated black and white buttons. Here, those accents influence the bumper styling rather than adding extra inputs. The rear shell and battery door are fully transparent, revealing the internal mechanism and an embedded classic Xbox logo beneath the surface.
Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection Specs and Bundle Structure
Although the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition looks different, the core specifications match the regular Xbox Series X model. Performance, resolution support and storage remain unchanged, ensuring games run identically across both versions. The Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection instead focuses on visual nostalgia and collectible appeal for fans of the platform’s early years.

The Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection is planned for launch in November in selected international regions, with both the translucent console and controller sold as a combined limited-edition bundle. Microsoft states that players who want only the accessory can purchase the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition separately as a standalone retail product.
Microsoft notes that detailed information on regional prices, preorder timings and participating retailers will be shared closer to release. The company has not yet specified exact markets, but the November window suggests the Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection will arrive during the crucial holiday shopping period for console buyers and collectors.
