PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for October 2025 Announced: Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3, Cocoon
Sony has confirmed the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup for October, and it’s a pretty interesting mix. You’re getting a psychological survival horror that’s been years in the making, a chaotic goat adventure that refuses to take itself seriously, and a puzzle game that literally lets you jump between worlds.
The lineup goes live on October 7 and runs until November 3, with options for both PS4 and PS5 players.

Alan Wake 2: Horror Returns in Style
The standout this month is Alan Wake 2, which is making its way to PlayStation Plus for PS5 players. If you played the original back in 2010, you’ll know the series has always blended psychological tension with cinematic storytelling. This sequel doubles down on that formula, introducing not just the returning Alan Wake but also a new character, FBI agent Saga Anderson.

The game splits its story across two perspectives and two very different realities. Alan Wake is trapped in the surreal nightmare realm known as the Dark Place, while Saga investigates strange murders in the Pacific Northwest. The mechanics lean heavily into survival horror—light becomes both your weapon and your shield, ammunition is scarce, and close combat encounters can feel claustrophobic.
What makes it compelling is that it’s not just about shooting your way through enemies. You’re also rewriting reality, piecing together clues, and trying to find your way out of overlapping mysteries. For PlayStation Plus members who enjoy story-driven games, this is likely the one to download first.
Goat Simulator 3: Absolute Mayhem With Friends
At the other end of the spectrum, you’ve got Goat Simulator 3, available on both PS4 and PS5. If Alan Wake 2 is dark and brooding, this game is the complete opposite—it’s pure absurd chaos.

You play as Pilgor, the infamous goat, but this time you’re not alone. Up to three friends can join in via local or online co-op. The result is a sandbox where you can lick, headbutt, launch yourself into chaos, and generally cause as much destruction as possible. There are mini-games to compete in, but the real fun is just in seeing how ridiculous the physics can get.
Goat Simulator has always been described as a “waste of time” in the most entertaining way possible. And that’s exactly the point—it doesn’t take itself seriously, and neither should you.
Cocoon: Puzzle Worlds Within Worlds
Rounding out the lineup is Cocoon, a puzzle-adventure game from Jeppe Carlsen, the lead gameplay designer behind Limbo and Inside. That pedigree alone will make puzzle fans take notice.

Cocoon’s central idea is that each world exists inside an orb, and you can carry those orbs on your back. By leaping between orbs, combining them, and unlocking their abilities, you slowly unravel how different environments connect to each other. It’s a game about exploration, curiosity, and problem-solving rather than combat.
The environments are alien and mysterious, with biomechanical devices and strange organic structures scattered throughout. Each orb grants new abilities—some let you reveal hidden paths, others allow you to fire projectiles or manipulate devices. It’s a layered system that makes every puzzle feel connected to the world itself.
A Bonus for Premium Members
If you’re subscribed to PlayStation Plus Premium, there’s also a new trial available. Starting October 7, you’ll be able to try Midnight Murder Club for up to an hour. Your progress and trophies carry over if you decide to buy the full game, so it’s a low-risk way to test the waters.
Last Call for September’s Games
One quick reminder before you dive into October’s lineup: you’ve got until October 6 to add September’s games—Psychonauts 2, Stardew Valley, and Viewfinder—to your library. Once they’re gone, they’re gone, so make sure to claim them if you haven’t already.
