Reliance Games Will Now Make Smartphone Games For Japan, Korean Gamers

Reliance Games, a part of Reliance Big Entertainment Pvt. Limited (ADAG Reliance Group), is eyeing one of the crème gaming markets of the world. Formerly known by the name of Jump Games, the company is finally getting aggressive to tap Japanese and Korean markets.

As per the latest press release, the company has acquired a mobile gaming publishing cum Development Company in Japan and a studio based out in Korea. Reliance Games says that the decision of entering into Japanese and Korean market is a logical one - both markets are home to the largest mobile gaming community.

The company says that as of now; the utmost task is to develop games as per local preference, but in future expect multiplayer games for the international audiences. Interestingly, Square Einx, the makers behind Final Fantasy series, has set up their new office in India. It is said that the publishing house cum developer wants to make India as their biggest hub due to the growing demand of mobile games.

Reliance Games has acquired the gaming division of Funnel Japan along with its team and all the IPs under development. In Korea, the company has brought a 51 per cent stake in the gaming studio called Bluesom

"The Company's expansion into the Japanese and Korean markets is significant and strategic. We see now a clear path that allows us product and development capacity in both countries. We are extremely excited by the new capabilities added to our team and we think our customers will enjoy the games we are preparing for them", said Eric Marlow, Vice President of Global Studios, Reliance Games.

As per the plans, Reliance Games will launch three games in the ‘social card game' and ‘real time strategy game' categories in the next three quarters in Japan and Korea. The company will definitely target Android and iOS owners with its planned offerings. But will be committed to games made for feature games as well. The company would definitely take advantage of its so-called Hollywood connections.

Both Japan and Korea, particularly, Japanese gaming market is going through a transaction period. With the sudden rise of smartphones; social gaming is on a rise. It is because of App store and Google Play; casual gamers are on a rise - thanks to the coming of free games on these app stores.

Going by the recent trend, handheld gaming, which largely consists of consoles promoted by Nintendo and Sony, witnessed a huge drop in the popularity charts. In the coming years, it would not be surprising to see mobile gaming taking maximum chunk from dedicated console gaming.
