Temple Run 2: Free Android App Now Available on Google Play

    As promised a week ago, Temple Run 2 has been released by Imangi Studios for Android and is available for download on Google Play. The game, available for free download to Android devices and was released for iOS devices a week ago. The game had seen over 20 million downloads fro iOS platform from iTunes Store in just four days of its release.

    Temple Run 2 has the same gameplay as the first part. However the visuals, design and environment has been significantly revamped. The new game features four player characters and the players are dished out a variety of upgradable abilities. Three of the four characters have to be unlocked by utilizing the currency available in the game. The game features newly introduced organic environments, more powerups, new obstacles and more achievements, a bigger demon monkey and special powers for the player character.

    Imangi co-founder, Keith Shepherd stated that the new game is completely based on Utility Engine. This will enable the game to be supported on multiple platforms. The company is monetizing the game using in-app payments which users will have to undertake to access coin doublers, new powerups etc. quickly.

    Just as in the first installment, this game also features the granting of powerups and upgrading of abilities on collecting a lot of coins. However, this is comparatively slow and players can use the in-app purchases in order to buy high scores and get ahead in the game sooner.

    Imangi stated that the predecessor to Temple Run 2 has garnered more than 170 million downloads on iOS and Android platforms. The same runaway success of Temple Run is expected for the sequel as well.
