You Might Be Able To Claim Red Dead Redemption 2, Mortal Kombat 11, & More For Free This December

If you’ve been using the Epic Games Store for a while, you probably know how December usually goes. Around mid-month, Epic starts giving away free PC games every day, and gamers quietly make it a habit to check the store once every 24 hours.

Epic Games Store’s Holiday Free Games Are Back: Check the Leaks!

This year looks no different.

Epic has already started rolling out its holiday promotion, and we recently noticed Hogwarts Legacy showing up as a free download. That alone was enough to get attention. Now, a new leak is adding more fuel to the conversation, with claims that some big-name titles could be coming next.

What Epic Has Actually Confirmed

Let’s separate what’s real from what’s floating around online.

Epic Games has only confirmed one thing so far. The daily “mystery games” event is back. That means one free game every day, unlocked at a fixed time, running through the end of December. Epic hasn’t shared a list, a roadmap, or even hints. Each game is revealed only when it goes live.

That’s how Epic has handled these giveaways for years, so nothing about that part is surprising.

The Leak Everyone’s Talking About

The excitement right now is coming from an alleged giveaway schedule that’s been circulating on Chinese social media platforms. According to the leak, Epic could be planning a mix of indie titles, strategy games, and major releases between December 18 and December 31.

Some of the names mentioned include Jurassic World Evolution 2, Desperados 3, Total War: Warhammer, Loop Hero, Detroit: Become Human, Mortal Kombat 11, and Farming Simulator 2022.

The biggest headline, though, is Red Dead Redemption 2. The leaked list claims it could be the final free game of the year, landing on December 31. If that happens, it would easily be one of Epic’s most talked-about giveaways to date.

Why You Should Take This With A Grain Of Salt

None of this is confirmed.

Epic hasn’t acknowledged the leak, and it hasn’t hinted at any specific titles either. While people point out that the same list has appeared across multiple platforms, that still doesn’t guarantee accuracy.

It’s also worth remembering that Epic has repeated free games before. Jurassic World Evolution 2, for example, was already given away earlier this year. So even if parts of the leak turn out to be real, changes or repeats wouldn’t be unexpected.
