Amazon Launches Echo Show 5 (3rd Gen) in India With Better Sound, New Design, and Smart Home Features

Amazon has quietly introduced the third-generation Echo Show 5 in India. This is the company’s smallest smart display, and while the update isn’t groundbreaking, it does bring some minor changes—mostly in design and audio.

The device is now available across Amazon.in, Flipkart, and offline at Reliance Digital and Croma stores. The launch price is ₹10,999.

What’s Changed?

Visually, the new Echo Show 5 looks a bit cleaner. It still has a 5.5-inch screen, but the bezels are a bit more uniform, and the edges are now rounded. It comes in two colors—Charcoal and Cloud Blue.

There’s a built-in camera up front that supports basic home monitoring and video calls. Nothing new here if you’ve used a previous Echo Show model.

The display lets you glance at the weather, control smart devices, view camera feeds, or check a calendar. It also supports watching video clips or browsing light content, though the screen size limits the experience.

The Audio Gets a Bump

One of the more noticeable upgrades is in the speaker setup. Amazon says this version has double the bass and clearer vocals compared to the older Echo Show 5. The actual speaker is 1.7 inches and rear-facing. If you mostly use Echo devices for voice commands, alarms, or casual music, this is a small but welcome improvement.

It supports common streaming services like Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and JioSaavn, along with Audible for audiobooks. You can also group it with other Echo speakers for multi-room audio.

Smart Home and Camera Features

The built-in camera allows you to use Amazon’s Drop In feature to check in on your home while you’re away. If you’ve paired compatible cameras or doorbells, you can view their feeds directly on the screen.

Video calling is available with other Echo Show users or through the Alexa app. You can also use the device as an intercom within your home if you have multiple Echo devices.

Basic Assistant Tasks Still Covered

Like every other Alexa-powered device, this one handles timers, reminders, to-do lists, and calendar events. You can ask it for news updates or weather forecasts, or control smart lights, ACs, fans, and other gadgets if they’re compatible.

The third-gen model runs on Amazon’s AZ2 Neural Edge processor, which is supposed to make Alexa more responsive. There's also a better mic array to help it hear commands more clearly.

Privacy Tools Are Still Present

As with other Echo devices, this one includes a camera shutter, a mic on/off button, and options to manage or delete voice recordings through the Alexa app. If you’re concerned about privacy, these are the basic tools Amazon offers.
