Amazon Launches Echo Show 11 and Echo Show 8 in India: It’s Less About Talking and More About Sensing
Amazon has launched two new smart displays in India: the Echo Show 11 and the fourth-generation Echo Show 8. The new models bring a larger focus on sensor-based automation, refreshed audio hardware, and a cleaner design, as Amazon continues to position Alexa as more of an ambient home assistant rather than just a voice-controlled speaker.

Both devices are available starting today across online and offline retail channels in India.
Amazon Is Leaning Harder Into Ambient Smart Home Features
The biggest shift with the new Echo Show lineup is Amazon’s push toward automation that works quietly in the background. Both the Echo Show 11 and Echo Show 8 are built around Omnisense, a sensor platform designed to trigger routines based on factors like presence, motion, and room temperature.
Instead of asking Alexa to act every time, users can set up routines that respond automatically. Lights can turn on when someone enters a room, or temperature-based actions can kick in once a room gets too warm or too cold. These routines are managed through the Alexa app and rely on a mix of inputs, including camera data, audio cues, ultrasound, Wi-Fi signals, and motion detection.
Powering this setup is Amazon’s AZ3 Pro chip, which handles the processing needed for these sensor-driven features.
Bigger Screens With a Simpler, Cleaner Design
Visually, both devices get a noticeable refresh. The Echo Show 11 comes with an 11-inch full HD display, while the Echo Show 8 features an 8.7-inch HD screen. Amazon has reduced bezels and moved to edge-to-edge glass, giving both displays a more modern, less bulky look compared to earlier Echo Show models.

The design also includes a fabric-backed finish and ambient visuals that adjust to lighting conditions, making the displays easier to live with throughout the day. A centered 13-megapixel camera with auto-framing and noise reduction is built in for video calls, keeping faces in frame during conversations.
Audio Gets a Meaningful Upgrade
Amazon has reworked the audio hardware on both smart displays. The Echo Show 11 and Echo Show 8 now feature front-firing stereo speakers paired with a custom woofer, aimed at delivering clearer vocals and fuller sound in everyday use.
The forward-facing speaker layout is designed to push sound directly toward the listener rather than dispersing it around the room. This should make a difference not just for music, but also for video playback and voice responses from Alexa. Music, podcasts, and audiobooks can be streamed from services like Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music, JioSaavn, and Audible, depending on subscriptions.
Entertainment and Home Monitoring on One Screen
Beyond audio, the displays support video streaming from services such as Prime Video and Netflix, along with YouTube access through Amazon’s Silk browser. Users can control playback either by touch or by asking Alexa directly.
The Echo Show devices also double as basic home monitoring hubs. Using features like Drop In, users can check in on family members, while compatible security cameras and video doorbells can be paired to view multiple live camera feeds on a single screen.
Privacy Controls Stay Front and Center
As with previous Echo devices, Amazon continues to emphasize privacy controls. Both smart displays include a physical microphone off button, camera controls, and options to review or delete voice recordings through the Alexa app. These controls are meant to give users more visibility and choice over how the devices operate inside their homes.
Pricing, Availability, and What’s Next
The Echo Show 11 is priced at ₹26,999, while the Echo Show 8 costs ₹23,999. Both models are available in Graphite and Glacier White color options and can be purchased via Amazon.in, Flipkart, and select offline retailers such as Reliance Digital and Croma.
Amazon has also confirmed that these smart displays are designed to work with Alexa+, its generative AI-powered assistant, once it becomes available in India. While there’s no timeline yet, it hints at how Amazon sees these devices evolving over time.
