BenQ GV50 Launched in India as a Compact Smart Projector With Google TV and Netflix
BenQ has introduced a new portable projector in India, the GV50, aimed at people looking for flexible entertainment setups without committing to a full-size TV. The device is part of BenQ’s push into the smart home segment and will be available starting April 22 on Amazon and the brand’s official e-store.
The GV50 runs on Google TV, supports Netflix natively, and uses a laser light source, something rarely seen in portable projectors at this price point. BenQ has priced it at ₹69,990 during the launch period.

Designed for Flexible Use
At 500 ANSI lumens, the GV50 isn't built to replace high-end projectors, but it seems designed for casual viewing in smaller spaces. The standout feature is its ability to project upward at a 135-degree angle, which makes it suitable for ceiling projection from a bed or floor.
BenQ has added a built-in two-stage tilt stand, autofocus, and 2D keystone correction. These features are meant to help with setup in situations where the user might be placing the projector at odd angles or in makeshift spaces. It also includes obstacle avoidance, adjusting the image to avoid interruptions like wall switches or hanging decor.
Entertainment and Inputs
The GV50 comes with Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, and other apps via Google TV. The fact that Netflix runs natively is notable, as many smart projectors rely on workarounds to stream it. There’s also USB-C DisplayPort support, meaning it can connect directly to devices like laptops or a Nintendo Switch.
It offers around 150 minutes of video playback on battery, or over four hours of Bluetooth speaker use. The projector includes an 18W 2.1-channel speaker with dedicated bass, which should suffice for a small room.
Who Is It For?
The GV50 looks like it’s targeted at urban users who want a compact, moveable entertainment option. While the price puts it in the premium bracket for portable projectors, its feature set is more aligned with casual, multipurpose use—streaming, light gaming, or turning a bedroom wall into a screen.
