Amazon Introduces Fire TV Stick 4K Select in India: 4K Streaming, Alexa Remote, and New Vega OS

Amazon has added another device to its streaming lineup in India — the Fire TV Stick 4K Select. Priced at ₹5,499, the new model aims to bring 4K streaming and Alexa integration to a wider audience without pushing buyers toward premium hardware.

A Simplified 4K Streaming Option

The Fire TV Stick 4K Select plugs into a TV’s HDMI port and supports playback in 4K Ultra HD with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. It runs on Amazon’s new Vega OS, which has been designed to make navigation faster and more consistent across Fire TV devices.

According to the company, the stick is built around a 1.7GHz quad-core processor — making it slightly quicker than older Fire TV models. It also supports dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity, and the Alexa Voice Remote, allowing users to search or control playback hands-free.

Ambient Experience Comes to India

One of the more notable additions is the Fire TV Ambient Experience, which turns the connected TV into a digital display when idle. The feature gives users access to thousands of artworks and photographs, along with useful widgets like clocks, weather updates, and calendar reminders.

While this mode has been available internationally for a while, this is the first time it’s being offered on an entry-level Fire TV device in India.

Apps, Content, and Access

Like other Fire TV products, the new stick supports most major streaming services, including Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube, Disney+ Hotstar, and Zee5. Users can also access free content through ad-supported channels and live streams.

In addition to entertainment, Alexa voice integration extends to basic smart home control, letting users adjust connected devices or check daily updates directly from the remote.

Price and Availability

The Fire TV Stick 4K Select is priced at ₹5,499 and is available both online and in retail stores across India. It joins the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus and Fire TV Cube as part of Amazon’s 4K lineup, sitting at the more affordable end of the range.
