Gemini is Expanding to Google TV: Here’s How to Activate It and What to Expect
Google has revealed that its smart TV platform will soon feature Gemini, replacing the current Google Assistant. This change brings a host of new AI capabilities to Google TV. Users can engage in conversations with their TVs to receive immediate recommendations for shows, summaries, or even travel planning assistance.
Gemini allows users to find shows by description if they forget the name. It also provides reviews, recaps of previous seasons, and helps with daily tasks. For instance, users can ask Gemini to teach them an instrument or cook a new dish, and it will present relevant YouTube videos for step-by-step guidance.

Availability and Future Expansion
Currently, Gemini is exclusive to the TCL QM9K series on Google TV. However, Google plans to extend its availability later this year. The expansion will include more TVs and devices such as the Google TV Streamer, 2025 Hisense U7, U8, and UX smart TVs, Walmart onn. 4K Pro, and the 2025 TCL QM7K, QM8K, and X11K models.
To activate Gemini on Google TV, users can say "Hey Google" or press the microphone button on their remote control. This functionality mirrors that of the existing Google Assistant.
Enhanced Features and Future Announcements
Google has indicated that additional features for Gemini will be unveiled at a future date. These enhancements are expected to further enrich user interaction with their smart TVs.
The introduction of Gemini signifies Google's commitment to enhancing user experience through advanced AI integration in its products. By offering more intuitive interactions and diverse functionalities, Google aims to redefine how users engage with their televisions.
