Here Are Some Reasons Why Xiaomi Leads Smart TV Market In India
The leading smartphone brands in India are aggressively focusing on the smart TV category to gain a major chunk of this market. While Xiaomi was one of the initial smartphone brands to step into the smart TV market in India, several others such as Motorola, OnePlus, and Nokia have followed its footsteps.
Talking about Xiaomi, the brand became an instant success in the smart TV market segment in India. Of course, the popularity of its smartphones and the affordable pricing of its smart TVs are notable reasons for the same. But that's not all!
Since its entry into this category, the company has been consistently pushing many new models with the recent technologies and trends. As all these are available at affordable pricing, the Mi TVs have been quite popular among buyers who are looking out for value for money offerings.
Xiaomi Leads Smart TV Market!
As per the latest report by IDC, Xiaomi leads the smart TV market in India in Q3 2019. The Mi TVs dominate the Indian market with a massive share of 33% as compared to rivals, claims the report. What's interesting is that big brands such as Samsung and LG are trailing behind with 14% and 13% market share respectively.
Wondering how Xiaomi managed to be a dominant player in the country? Well, here we have cherry-picked a few reasons that have contributed to the success of the Chinese brand in the smart TV market in the country.
Reasons For Xiaomi's Success In Smart TV Market
Firstly, we should mention that all the smart TV brands have started inking partnerships with the content providers so that viewers are hooked to their TV screens for a longer time than ever before. Likewise, Xiaomi's PatchWall OS also offers a slew of content for its users. It teamed up with Eros Now and other content providers to provide ample content for its users.
The other reason is the government's recent move to eradicate the import duty of 5% on open-cell LCD television panels accounting for 70% of the overall cost of assembling the TVs in the country. Eventually, this reduces the cost for the manufacturers and this is what Xiaomi has used to capitalize in the Indian market.
The other aspect that we ought to mention is the change in the mindset among buyers. Though the affordable price point is one factor to be mentioned for the success of Xiaomi in this product category, it also proves that buyers are not focused on the brand. More buyers seem to focus on what features they get for the pricing they pay.
Apart from these, there are other notable factors such as cheaper internet tariff plans, easy finance options to upgrade to smart TVs, etc.
