Reliance Jio DTH service could be unlikely
Don’t get disappointed! Jio DTH service reportedly unlikely.
Ever since Reliance Jio forayed into the telecom sector with the launch of its 4G services, there were reports that the company will enter the internet and DTH market segments. Reliance Jio was speculated to introduce the Jio DTH and Jio Fiber broadband services in India. Many users are awaiting the launch of these services as the company will DTH and internet services at ultra-affordable prices.
According to the recent media reports, the Jio DTH is said to be powered by a Jio set-top box and is said to be different from the other conventional DTH services. It is believed to come with an ultra-slim design and feature next-generation connectivity features. The DTH can also be connected to standard HDMI televisions just like Amazon Fire Stick and Google Chromecast. It is speculated to be capable of converting your TV into a smart TV instantly.
Set-top box rumors
Previous reports have been speculating that the Jio DTH set-top box will be integrated with the Jio Store and Google Play Store in order to let users download Android apps on their TV. The set top box was also rumored to arrive with 16GB of default memory capacity to store the downloaded content. It was speculated to arrive with an external hard drive up to 2TB of capacity.
Remote was also leaked
We have also seen the alleged remote control of the Jio DTH set-top box surface online. Though there was no authenticity that it belong to Reliance Jio, it resembled the Google Chromecast remote. It was believed to be integrated with a microphone hinting at the voice commands support using Google Assistant and Jio's Hello Jio seen on the JioPhone.
Jio DTH service could be unlikely
In the meantime, it looks like Reliance Jio might not be working on the Jio DTH service. As of now, there has never been any official confirmation from Jio regarding the same and until we get the same we cannot be sure if the Jio DTH service exists.
