This Projector Could Cost Over ₹15 Lakh: Optoma UHR90DV Targets Serious Home Theater Setups
If you’re building a serious home theater setup, projectors have quietly been getting closer to what you’d see in an actual cinema. Optoma’s latest announcement is another step in that direction.

The company has introduced the UHR90DV, its new flagship home theater projector. It’s notable for a couple of reasons. This is Optoma’s first RGB triple-laser home theater model, and it’s also the company’s first projector to carry both Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced certifications.
The idea here is simple. Bring more cinema-grade features into a home setup without requiring a full professional theater environment.
Dual Cinema Certifications And Filmmaker Mode
One of the key highlights of the UHR90DV is support for Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced formats.
These technologies adjust brightness, contrast, and color on a scene-by-scene basis when compatible content is played. The projector also supports HDR10+, which works in a similar way by dynamically optimizing image quality.
Another feature included is Filmmaker Mode. When enabled, it disables certain post-processing effects so films can be viewed closer to how directors intended them to appear.
RGB Triple-Laser Projection
The UHR90DV uses a triple-laser RGB light system, meaning it relies on separate red, green, and blue laser sources rather than a single light source.
This setup allows the projector to achieve 96% of the BT.2020 color gamut, which is often associated with cinema-grade color reproduction. The goal is to produce deeper shadows, brighter highlights, and more accurate color across different types of content.
Brightness And Installation Flexibility
The projector offers 5,000 ISO lumens of brightness along with a 4,500,000:1 contrast ratio.
That level of brightness means the projector can still deliver clear images even if the room isn’t completely dark.
Optoma has also added several features designed to make installation easier. The UHR90DV includes motorized zoom, focus, and lens shift, along with lens memory, allowing users to adjust projection settings and aspect ratios more easily.
Designed For Long-Term Use
The projector uses a triple-laser light source rated for up to 30,000 hours of use, which should reduce the need for frequent replacements.
Optoma has also focused on sustainability in the design. The projector’s chassis uses 50% PCR eco-friendly materials, and the packaging uses FSC-certified low-carbon materials.
Together, the UHR90DV brings together several cinema-focused features in a projector designed for dedicated home theater environments.
Expected Price
Optoma hasn’t officially revealed the price of the UHR90DV yet. However, company representatives told the press that the flagship projector could cost over ₹15 lakh when it eventually goes on sale.
