Reliance Jio 4K Set-Top Box Offering 150 Live Channels Without Cable Connection
Reliance Jio has finally started providing its 4K set-top box to its JioFiber paid users. This is a part of the Triple Play broadband offers that Jio introduced about two months ago. Besides, the company has announced that the JioFiber trial run has concluded and all customers under the trial period have to migrate to paid offers.
Meanwhile, TelecomTalk reported that Jio is offering 150 live TV channels without the Cable TV connection. The number of channels is very limited in the initial run. Besides, the newly launched set-top Box does not offer any pre-installed JioTV app.
This means users will not get 650 Live TV channels on Jio TV. However, it comes with JioTV+ which combines the content from all the OTT platforms. The report also states that JioTV+ is somehow like Xiaomi's PatchWall UI and OnePlus Oxygen Play.
For the unaware, Jio recently introduced six broadband plans, which start from Rs. 699 and go up to Rs. 8,499, where it is offering 100GB data to 1Gbps data per month. In addition, users get free voice calls, free TV video calling/conferencing, home networking, and device security devices. Apart from that Reliance Jio users get three months subscription of JioCinema and JioSaavn as part of this bundle.
It is worth mentioning that Reliance Jio fibers also offer 2,500GB data, access to Jio suite apps, VR platform access, and First Day First show eligibility, with Rs. 3,999 and Rs. 8,499 broadband plans.
Furthermore, the company has not announced the final channel list and partnership with any OTT players. But as per the earlier announcement unlike Airtel and other broadband players, Jio is not offering access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hotstar. In fact, this also means that you have to buy a separate connection to watch OTT apps.
