Sonos Play And Era 100 SL Announced: Two Speakers Focused On A Growing Home Audio System
Sonos has announced two new speakers called Sonos Play and Sonos Era 100 SL, both designed around the company’s long-standing idea of a connected home audio system.

The approach is simple. Instead of replacing devices every time a new product launches, Sonos wants its speakers to work together and expand over time. You might start with one speaker in the living room, add another in the bedroom later, and gradually build a system across the house.
The two new models reflect that thinking, but they target slightly different types of users.
Sonos Play Brings Portability Into The Sonos Ecosystem
The Sonos Play is positioned as a flexible speaker that works both at home and on the move.
At home, it connects over WiFi so it can sync with other Sonos speakers in different rooms. But when you step outside, it switches to Bluetooth and works like a typical portable speaker.

Sonos says the Play can run for up to 24 hours on a single charge, and it carries an IP67 rating, which means it should handle water splashes and dust without much trouble. The speaker also includes a built-in power bank, so you can charge your phone if the battery runs low.
There’s also a small detail that makes it easier to carry around. The speaker comes with a removable utility loop, which is meant for grabbing it quickly or attaching it to a bag.
Another interesting feature appears when you’re away from home. If the speaker is connected to your phone over Bluetooth, you can sync it with other Sonos Play or Move 2 speakers by holding the play button on each device. That allows multiple speakers to play together even outside the usual WiFi setup.
The speaker also uses Sonos’ automatic Trueplay tuning, which adjusts the sound depending on the environment.
Era 100 SL Offers A Simpler Entry Point
The second speaker announced today is the Era 100 SL, which takes a more straightforward approach.
It’s essentially designed as a simpler way to enter the Sonos ecosystem. One notable difference is that the speaker doesn’t include microphones. That means there’s no built-in voice assistant support, which may appeal to people who prefer a mic-free device.

Even though it’s simpler, the idea is the same. The speaker works on its own, but it can also become part of a larger setup later. You can add another speaker for stereo sound, place additional speakers in other rooms, or eventually build a home theater configuration.
Availability
For now, Sonos has confirmed the two speakers globally. Availability details for Sonos Play and Sonos Era 100 SL in India are expected to be announced later.
