Sony Brings BRAVIA 8 II OLED TVs to India: Smudge-Free Design, AI Picture Engine, and Built-in PS5 Support
Sony has officially brought its BRAVIA 8 II OLED TV series to India, a couple of months after its global debut.
With a minimalist design, a strong focus on cinematic and gaming features, and some eco-conscious upgrades under the hood, the new TVs mark Sony's latest push in the premium television segment.

A Flat-Back Design with OLED Precision
The BRAVIA 8 II series comes in two screen sizes - 55 inches and 65 inches - both featuring a slim "One Slate" design. With a clean, flat back panel and a smudge-resistant finish, the TVs are designed to blend seamlessly into modern living spaces, whether wall-mounted or placed on a stand.
Under the hood is Sony's 4K UHD OLED panel (3840×2160 resolution), paired with a 120Hz refresh rate. This display tech allows individual pixels to be lit independently, producing deeper blacks and sharper contrast - a hallmark of OLED technology.
At the heart of the experience is the XR Processor, which applies AI-driven scene recognition to optimize brightness, contrast, and color detail in real time.
HDR, Dolby Vision, and IMAX Enhanced Support
In terms of compatibility, the BRAVIA 8 II supports a full suite of premium formats: HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision, and IMAX Enhanced. Sony's XR Triluminos Max and XR Contrast Booster 25 tech further enhance brightness levels and shadow detail, making the picture pop even in brightly lit rooms or from wide viewing angles.
Built-In Sound That Moves with the Action
Sony's approach to audio is unique - quite literally. The Acoustic Surface Audio+ system uses two actuators and two subwoofers built directly into the screen. The idea is to have sound originate from the same place as the visuals, creating a more immersive experience.
With a total output of 50W and Dolby Atmos onboard, the audio setup is tuned for spatial richness without needing a separate soundbar.
Ready for the PS5: Game Mode Enhancements
Gamers, especially those in the PlayStation 5 ecosystem, will find several features tailored for console gaming. The TVs support 4K at 120fps, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and Auto HDR Tone Mapping.
There's also a dedicated Game Menu that lets users toggle VRR, motion blur reduction, and black equalizer settings without digging through layers of menus.
Connectivity and Smart Features
The BRAVIA 8 II runs on Android TV OS with the Google TV interface on top. It supports voice control through a built-in microphone and includes standard accessibility features like screen reader, audio description, and text magnification.
On the connectivity front, the TV is well-equipped: four HDMI 2.1 ports, two USB ports, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, LAN, RF input, and optical output. Whether you're streaming content, connecting sound systems, or gaming, the ports cover most use cases.
Sony Pictures Core, Sustainability, and Extras
Sony is also bundling access to Sony Pictures Core - the company's in-house video streaming platform - offering 10 movie credits in 4K HDR, redeemable over a 24-month period.
On the sustainability front, the BRAVIA 8 II uses Sony's SORPLAS recycled material in its construction. An Eco Dashboard 2 provides energy usage stats and encourages efficient settings based on your viewing habits.
