Sony Launches Live TV on PS5 With 100+ Free Channels: Here's How to Access It

Sony has launched Live TV on PS5, bringing more than 100 live channels and on-demand entertainment directly to PlayStation 5 consoles. The new service is available in the US and offers movies, TV shows, sports, anime, news and creator-led programming through a free ad-supported experience.

Live TV on PS5 launched on August 31 and is accessible from the Media tab on compatible consoles. Sony says it plans to expand the service to Canada and is exploring availability in other regions. However, Live TV on PS5 is currently not available in India.

Live TV on PS5: What Can You Watch?

The service brings content from several major entertainment and sports providers, including Amazon MGM Studios, Crunchyroll, Fox, NBCUniversal, NFL Channel and UFC.

At launch, users can access free movies through channels such as MovieSphere by Lionsgate, 50 Cent Action, FilmRise Free Movies, Sony One Horror Hits and Cinevault.

The TV lineup includes popular shows such as Community, The Shield, Hell's Kitchen, The Walking Dead, Forensic Files, Unsolved Mysteries, Deal or No Deal USA and Fear Factor.

Sports content covers categories including American football, MMA, hockey, motorsports, golf, boxing and soccer, with programming from FOX Sports, NASCAR, NBC Sports Now, UFC and others.

Creator Content and More

Beyond traditional live TV, Sony is also bringing creator-led programming from platforms such as YouTube and Spotify. This includes shows such as Hot Ones and The Ringer.

Users can also discover programming focused on gaming and esports, documentaries, podcasts and comedy, giving the service a broader mix of entertainment beyond conventional television channels.

How to Access Live TV on PS5

Accessing the new service is straightforward:

1. Open the Media tab on your PS5.
2. Select the Live TV on PS5 icon.
3. Choose "Sign In With My PlayStation Account."
4. Start watching available live channels and on-demand content.

The service is provided by Sony Pictures Television and is free to access with advertising. Sony has not yet announced when Live TV on PS5 will launch in India.
