Tata Sky To Launch 4K Android Set-Top Box: Report
DTH operator Tata Sky is planning to launch a new 4K Android set-top box in the country. If reports are to be believed, the company will launch a new set-top box on Tuesday (December 16). The device is named at Tata Sky Binge+. Ahead of the official launch specifications and details have surfaced on the internet. Here are the details of the upcoming product.
As per a report by DreamDTH, the device is codenamed as 'Prithvi' and it is manufactured by Technicolor. According to the report, the box will run Android 9 Pie OS and it supports 4K resolution. The set-top box is powered by 1.8 GHz Broadcom BCM72604 B processor. Furthermore, it will have 2GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM.
The new STB is hybrid in nature which means users can watch live Tv via RF cable. Besides, the company is providing access to OTT content via Ethernet or WiFi connection. Also, users will get catch up support for seven days. The report further highlights that the STB will come with a complimentary subscription to the Tata Sky Binge service.
In addition, it offers content from Hotstar, Eros Now, Hungama, Zee5, and SunNxt applications. The service is priced at Rs. 249. However, there is no information that it is mandatory to purchase Binge service along with the set-top box.
Also, there is no information about the availability and price of STB. Apart from that, the company has announced that it will offer a one-month free trial of its Binge services to its new customers. The Binge services allow you to stream content from Amazon Fire TV Stick Tata Sky edition. Lastly, the company is planning to offer more than 400 live channels to its users.
