Exclusive: Thomson To Launch More Than 10 TV Models In 2020; Eyeing 8% Indian Market Share


After achieving a 4 percent market share in India, French television brand Thomson, which had entered India through a partnership with Flipkart in 2018, is now planning to double its market share by the end of the next year. The company's CEO, Avneet Singh Marwah, shared the details about their upcoming investments and products in an exclusive interview with Gizbot.

Avneet said, "At present, we have 4 percent market share in India. Now we are targeting 8 percent market share by the end of next year." Adding to that, "We have recently invested Rs. 150 crore in setting up our new line in our manufacturing plant in Noida. But now we are planning to set up our research and development centre in the country. For that, we will be investing more in 2020."

On the other hand, Thomson is planning to launch 10 - 20 TV models, a software library, and AI features in 2020. Besides, the company is planning to foray into other countries. "We are operating in 70 countries, and now we are planning to expand our reach to other countries as well in 2020. Next year, we will be launching many bigger screens at affordable prices." However, he refuses to share the names of the countries they are planning to foray into next year.

Furthermore, the company is eyeing Rs. 500 crore revenue by the end of this year, " We are eyeing a revenue target of 500 crores by the end of this a year," Avneet told Gizbot earlier this year. In fact, the company claims that it has sold 1.5 lakh units, during Diwali sale.

Meanwhile, Thomson has announced discounts on its entire TV range on Flipkart. Under this sale, the company is offering 24 inches non-smart TV at Rs. 5,999 only. While Android TV 4K range will be available at Rs. 25,499 and 65-inch TV is priced at Rs. 55,999.
