WWDC 2024: Apple Unveils tvOS 18 With InSight, Enhanced Dialogue, and Subtitles

At WWDC 2024, Apple unveiled updates to its Home products, enhancing user convenience and cinematic experiences. The latest tvOS 18 introduces features like InSight, which provides real-time information on actors, characters, and music from Apple TV+ movies and shows.

It also brings 21:9 support for playing movies and shows on projectors and includes new screen savers. This expansion aims to enrich the viewing experience for users. With tvOS 18, Enhanced Dialogue improves vocal clarity and subtitles appear automatically at the right moments.

Moreover, Apple Music now supports SharePlay, allowing users to add songs to a playlist and control playback without needing an Apple Music subscription. FaceTime has also received Live Captions for English in the U.S. and Canada, making it easier for users and letting them read what others are saying on a FaceTime call.

With iOS 18 the Home app brings guest access, enabling users to grant control over locks, garage doors, and security systems. Additionally, the Home app provides information about home electricity usage through partnerships with leading utilities. Other new features include compatibility with robot vacuum cleaners and AirPlay adds Spatial Audio for an immersive audio experience.

The tvOS 18, iOS 18, and HomePod software version 18 developer betas are now available for Apple Developer Program members at developer.apple.com, while public betas will be available to users starting next month at beta.apple.com. The new software features will be available for users starting this fall.
