Intex IT-TW 12006 FMUB Tower Speakers review: Good performance at budget price-point

Intex IT-TW 12006 Tower speakers are priced at Rs. 11,300. The multimedia setup offers good audio performance and comes equipped with a variety of connectivity features

Intex is well known for its feature phones and budget Android smartphones in the Indian market; however mobile phone manufacturing is just one division of company's product line-up. The Indian company also sells a variety of consumer durables such as Bluetooth speakers, refrigerators, power banks, fitness bands, LED TVs and music systems.

Intex recently added two new music systems to its speakers range. The new 2.0 Tower Speakers - IT-TW 12006 FMUB and IT- TW 12005 SUFB were launched at Rs. Rs 11,400 and 11,600 in offline market across India.

If you were planning to buy an affordable music system, you must check out the new range as we have tested one of the two music setups. The IT-TW 12006 Tower speakers performed quite well in our everyday usage. Let's find out more with the help of this review.

    What’s in the package?

Intex IT-TW 12006 is a 2.0 Tower speaker system that delivers 100W total output power with its primary and slave unit. The 3-way tower speaker setup comprises of six audio outputs, three on each unit having one high-frequency main driver, one mid-frequency secondary driver and one woofer.

The entire setup requires an AC power supply of 110V ~ 265V to deliver a total of 100 W audio power.

There's a cordless Mic in the package with a range 7 to 10 meters to handle karaoke sessions. The entire system can be operated by a remote control that allows you to manage Bass, Treble, connectivity features and everything else that the speakers are capable of.

As far as packaging is concerned, you get the speakers, Mic, remote control, audio cable, FM wire and Aux in-out cables.

    Connectivity and Features

I was quite pleased to see the variety of connectivity options and features that these affordable speakers come equipped with. I think Intex hasn't missed out on anything with this budget home system.

Intex IT-12006 sport a USB port, Bluetooth, AUX input compatible with DVD/PC/LCD TV, and a built-in FM tuner. Basically, you have got all possible channels to listen to music among which Bluetooth and USB will be preferred most. Besides, FM can also come handy if you are bored of your playlist and want to hear what the world is listening.

Last but not the least, you also get karaoke support with the speakers and a Bluetooth enabled cordless Mic in the package to kick start family jamming sessions.

As far as placement of ports are concerned, the USB port is provided on the top of the primary unit, Mic controls are positioned at the right side and all other ports-Aux In/Out, DVD output, main output port, etc. are placed at the rear side.

    Appealing Design

When you think of affordable music system, especially when it comes to tower speakers the expectations are not quite high in terms of design, as manufacturers often fail to deliver due to price constraint.

However, Intex has managed to design a good looking home music setup that will not spoil the overall look of your interiors, no matter where you keep them.

The tower units come in Black color and have an appealing form factor. Among the three big circular modules at front, top most has LED lights and audio is delivered from the other two. The material used in designing the tower units is of good quality.

The plastic surface has been given a mix of glossy and matte finish on front and sides respectively. The speakers have a net weight of 17.71 kg and a box size of 51.8 × 43.9 × 98 cm, making them occupy just a small portion on the floor.

Make sure you leave a bit of space around the tower speakers while placing them in your room or office as one big audio woofer is placed on either side of the tower units.

    LED Floor lighting

In addition to audio, the tower speakers also offer some cool LED lighting effects to create a party setup. The tower units have one circular lighting dial at top and floor dancing display lights at the bottom. The light pattern can be controlled via remote control.

Audio Performance: Loud and works well for most of the genres

At first I was quite doubtful about the audio performance of the affordable speakers but they did manage to impress with the kind of sound they produced. The 100W total audio output can easily fill a big room. I mostly played the speakers in a 17x11 feet room and the audio was more than enough to fill up the entire room.

When I played various genres of music, the tower speakers produced good sound signature with booming bass, however bass sometimes lacked substance. The clarity in vocals is quite good and the tower units can also touch high notes.

However, they tend to miss out on deep detailing and have somewhat narrow dynamic range, which might not please true audiophiles. But at this price-point, I won't mind it much as the overall audio output is quite appreciable. Besides, the cordless mic worked just fine and Karaoke sessions were fun with the tower speakers during weekends.

You can also tweak the Bass and Treble value with the remote control. Moreover, the remote can also be used to select source, and control functions of cordless Mic such as volume, Echo, etc.

Intex has delivered a solid home music system in the form of IT-TW 12006, and that too in a pocket friendly price-point. The entry-level tower speakers can produce some thumping bass, clear and loud audio to fill up an entire living room.

The design is appealing and you also get a range of connectivity options that will help you tune in to your music library the way you want.

The audiophiles might complain about the lack of detailing in some parts of the audio played, but IT-TW 12006 comes out as a great value for money deal for price-conscious consumers who want a complete home music system.
