TruVison TX408Z TV review: A decent offering with smart functionality
TruVison has unveiled a brand new TX 408Z smart TV which was launched at a price point of Rs 35,999. Soon after the launch, we got our hands on the TV and here is the full review.
India is swiftly becoming the testing ground for foreign firms to promote their products with new strategies and innovative products. Now a Europe-based electronics and appliances company, TruVison has hit the sub-continent shores with the launch of LED TVs, homes audio systems and soon it is planning to launch washing machines, air conditioners, air coolers and more shortly.
- Sleek Design
- Comes pre-loaded with Play Store
- 8GB internal Memory
- Doesn't feature 4K display
- Picture Quality not that good
- Slow remote response
In April, the company launched a brand new TX 408Z smart TV at the price point of Rs 35,999. Soon after the launch, we got the chance to play around with the device, and here's what we think about the product.
Design
The smart LED TV comes with a Full HD display along with a resolution of 1920 x1080 pixels. The company claims that this is a high-quality LED TV with low radiation. Looking at the design of the TV, one can notice that the company has managed to maintain a full-screen design with minimum bezels around it.
On the rear side, this smart TV comes with the wide range of connectivity options, like 2 USB port, SD card slots, audio video outputs and 1 VGA output. With USB support you can also connect an external keyboard and plug-in a mouse to your TV.
Alongside, it also comes with a LAN support and 2 HDMI port, which helps you operate the device without even connecting it to the set-top box. You can now share the screen or connect to two different sources of system units, just by plugging in the HDMI cable. Thanks to the HDMI port you can connect the TV to your PC and laptops for a better viewing experience.
Connectivity
Although the device supports Wi-Fi, you can also directly connected via LAN connection and enjoy watching your videos and movies on YouTube and browse directly on your smart TV. It also comes with a screen mirroring feature which enables you to transfer the content from your phone or laptop to the TV.
Apart from that you also have an option to insert a microSD card to watch movies or store screenshots directly on the card. For power consumption, the Full HD TV is crafted with Super Energy Saving Technology which claims to consume less than half percent of energy than usual.
Software
As we are done with the hardware specs, let's move towards the software part, the Truvison TX 408ZA runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and comes pre-installed with apps like Facebook, YouTube, Voot and more. This smart TV also comes with pre-loaded with Play Store, so you can download the apps according to your requirement.
The Truvison TX 408ZA comes with a single remote which seems very fancy and have all the operations. It also comes with dedicated application keys like YouTube, Facebook, Netflix, Play Store and more.
In addition to the application keys you also have access to options like Zoom and screenshot on your TV remote. But on the flip side the remote works with a little lag of 2 seconds, which can be annoying for the users at some point. The remote response seems to be a bit slow and it works only when it's pointed towards the direction of the sensor of the TV.
Verdict
While this TV has some really good features, you still have some better options from other brands like Xiaomi and Daiwa in terms of screen resolution and video quality. As this TV doesn't come with the 4K resolution support, on the other hand, Xiaomi has launched its new TV with 4K resolution.
Overall, the TruVison TX408Z qualifies as a decent offering, but it is hard to recommend it over the likes of Xiaomi Mi TV 4A that offers a higher level of functionality and is a great value for money. If you are someone who prefers Android's apps, the TruVison TV can be a good alternative. But if you can live without these Android apps, there aren't many convincing factors to purchase this piece of hardware.
