Aadhaar Update Deadline Extended: Update Your Aadhaar for Free Until June 14th

Indian residents now have until June 14, 2024 to update their Aadhaar card details online for free. This extension gives everyone a chance to ensure their Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents are current on the Aadhaar system.

What Information Can Be Updated Online?

The free online update allows changes to demographic details like name, address, date of birth, and mobile number. Biometric details like fingerprints and iris scans require a visit to an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.

How to Update Your Aadhaar Online

  1. Visit the UIDAI website and choose your language.
  2. Go to the "My Aadhaar" tab and select "Update Your Aadhaar."
  3. Click "Document Update" and enter your UID number with the Captcha code.
  4. Receive and enter the one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered mobile number.
  5. Choose the specific details you want to update and fill in the new information accurately.
  6. After making changes, click "Submit" and upload scanned copies of supporting documents.
  7. Finalize the update by clicking "Submit Update Request." You'll receive a tracking number (URN) via SMS.

Required Documents for Update:

  1. Proof of Identity: Passport, Driving Licence, PAN card, Voter ID, Government ID cards, Marksheets, Marriage certificate, Ration card.
  2. Proof of Address: Bank statements (recent), Utility bills (recent), Passport, Marriage certificate, Ration card, Property tax receipts (recent), Government ID cards.

Important Note: Updating Biometric Details Requires a Centre Visit

Fingerprint scans, iris scans, and facial photographs cannot be updated online for free. To update these details, visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre, which you can find using the UIDAI website.

What Happens After June 14th?

While online updates are currently free, a fee will be applicable after June 14th. Online updates will cost Rs 25, and offline updates will cost Rs 50.
