Bribes.fyi Explained: How to Report Bribes Anonymously and Check Corruption Trends Across India

Bribes.fyi is a new anonymous crowdsourced registry that allows people in India to report alleged bribery incidents and explore reported corruption trends across the country. Created by developer Aryan Nishad, the platform is designed to document citizens' experiences with government departments while protecting their privacy.

Unlike conventional reporting platforms, Bribes.fyi does not require users to create an account or submit an email address. Citizens can anonymously submit details about an alleged bribe, including the department, location, amount demanded and whether they refused to pay.

Bribes.fyi Is Tracking Bribery Across India: Here’s How to Contribute

How to Report a Bribe on Bribes.fyi

Reporting an incident on Bribes.fyi is relatively straightforward. Users can visit the website and submit a report through its online form.

To report a suspected bribery incident, users can:

  1. Open the Bribes.fyi website.
  2. Enter the government department involved.
  3. Provide the location where the incident occurred.
  4. Enter the amount of the bribe allegedly demanded.
  5. Indicate whether the bribe was paid or refused.
  6. Submit the report anonymously.

The platform does not require users to register an account or provide email credentials, making the process more accessible for people who want to document their experiences without publicly identifying themselves.

How to Check Corruption Trends Across India

Bribes.fyi also works as a public database of reported bribery incidents. Visitors can browse the available reports to understand where and how frequently alleged bribery incidents have been reported.

As of mid-August 2026, the platform had recorded 616 reports across 251 cities. Police departments accounted for the largest share, with 337 reports, followed by Regional Transport Offices with 88, Revenue and Land Records departments with 69, passport offices with 43 and municipal corporations with 29.

The database also records whether citizens refused to pay. Around 38 per cent of reported incidents involved people refusing the alleged bribe. Some reports indicate that users still received the required government service after refusing to make a payment.

Is Bribes.fyi Completely Anonymous?

Privacy is a major focus of the platform. Bribes.fyi does not require accounts or email addresses for submitting reports. According to information provided by the platform, IP addresses are hashed rather than stored in their raw form.

However, users should still avoid including unnecessary personally identifiable information in their submissions, particularly details that could reveal their identity or put them at risk.

Is Bribes.fyi an Official Government Database?

No. Bribes.fyi is a crowdsourced registry, not an official government corruption database. Its reports are based on submissions from individuals and are not equivalent to verified government records.

The platform itself cautions that its data should not be treated as a definitive measurement of corruption across India. Instead, it provides a snapshot of reported citizen experiences that can help reveal potential patterns and areas of concern.

Why Is Bribes.fyi Useful?

The platform can be useful for citizens, journalists and researchers looking for publicly available information about alleged bribery experiences. Citizens can use the database to understand reported patterns before interacting with certain government departments, while researchers and journalists can examine the data for broader trends.

Bribes.fyi does not replace official anti-corruption authorities or formal complaint mechanisms. Instead, it provides an additional public forum where citizens can anonymously document their experiences and contribute to a growing picture of alleged corruption across India.
