Chrome for Android Now Lets You Move the Address Bar to the Bottom: Here's How to Enable It
Google is rolling out a subtle but thoughtful update to Chrome for Android that gives users more control over how they interact with the browser. For the first time, Android users can now move the address bar to the bottom of the screen. While it may seem like a minor tweak, this feature is rooted in usability and comfort, especially for those using phones with large displays.
The update is arriving gradually and will be available to all users over the coming weeks.

How to Move the Address Bar in Chrome for Android
Google has made the new toggle easy to find. Users can reposition the address bar in two ways:
-
Option 1: Long-press the address bar directly and choose “Move address bar to bottom.”
-
Option 2: Go to Chrome’s Settings > Address Bar and select your preferred position.
There’s no restart required, and users can switch between top and bottom placements at any time.
Why the Address Bar’s Location Matters
For years, Android users have been used to the address bar sitting at the top of the screen. But as phone screens have grown taller, that placement hasn’t always been ideal—particularly when trying to navigate with one hand.
By giving users the option to move the address bar to the bottom, Chrome is acknowledging that preferences can vary based on hand size, grip style, and screen dimensions. This small bit of customization might make the browsing experience feel just a little more natural.
A Gradual Rollout for All Users
The feature isn’t live for everyone just yet. Google is rolling it out in phases, meaning some users may already have access while others will receive it in the coming weeks. If it’s not available for you yet, make sure your Chrome app is updated to the latest version through the Google Play Store.
