    Google launched a standalone photo and video service called Google Photos at its annual I/O developers conference, few months back. The Google Photos is an unlimited and free storage, sharing and editing service available for Android, iOS and the web.

    The Photos app and online service, store and organize photos, videos that can be accessible across phone and tablet and even in web browser. Google Photos is available for Android and iOS devices as well as for Mac and Windows desktop.

    Pinch To Zoom

    You might already familiar with the pinch-and-zoom features. By default, the Google Photos app shows images in medium-sized thumbnails arranged chronologically by date. You can pinch outwards to zoom all the photo to get larger-sized thumbnails and pinch inwards to get smaller thumbnails.

    Quick Scroll

    Google Photos app comes with a new scrolling features called quick-scroll. You can touch the quick-scroll icon on the right side of the screen and drag it upward or downward to scroll quickly through your images.

    Swipe to Jump Out of Image

    You can easily jump out of image while viewing it in a full mode. You just need just swipe upward or downward to jump back quickly to your main image list.

    Photo Search

    Searching the photo library is nothing new, but Google has come up with interesting feature in the Google Photos. You can search the photo library with dates, titles and locations. Furthermore, Google Photos lets you search for content in your photos. For instance, you can search for 'dog' or 'cycling' or 'door' and the Google Photos service will display all your pictures that have dog, cycle, door in them respectively.

    Explore photos by location

    Google Photos recognizes your photos by geographical landmarks. You can search for photos by location in the Photos app. For instance, if you have uploaded photos your vocation at Eiffel Tower, then you can just type Eiffel Tower in the search box.

    Face Recognition

    The photo search is one of the coolest and most powerful features in the app. Google says the app is able to track a person's face and continue to recognition it as they age over time. The photos get automatically face tagged and can be searched using the persons name.

    Google Creations

    Google came up with the similar Google+ Photos features called auto awesome, colleges, animations and videos. The Photos automatically creates animations, colleges and create auto awesome effects of your photos.


    The Google Photos app makes it simple to share any number of photos with friends or family using an email app, messaging app, on social media and so on. But you can also share using a new features called "Get Link", where you can add any number of images and share the like to whom you want.

    Free and Unlimited

    Yes, Google Photos service is free and unlimited so that you can store as many photos and video you want. Google Photos will store full resolution photo and videos on the cloud.

    Paid Option

    Google Photos is also available as paid service. Google Photos is free, where it compresses images and videos to its restricted sizes. Well if you want to upload full resolution images and videos, the service is available for paid plan. You can get 15GB for free and then you can pay $2 a month for up to 100GB of storage or $10 for 1TB for a month.
