How to activate the new Material Design theme in Chrome for Windows
The new material design theme can be accessed at the moment only on the Google Chrome Canary version 68 on Windows, so the users need to update Chrome Canary if it's not been done already.
With the announcement of the Android P, it has become quite evident that Google is planning on redesigning all of its software products. The new feature is known as the "Material Design 2", the new design basically focuses more on the rounded edges with big white spaces that make the design appear more clean and approachable.
We all must have seen that the tech giant officially releasing a redesigned calendar for users along with the leaks of how the redesigned Gmail on the web might look like. As per some reports from the Beebom, Google has implemented a hidden setting that allows the users to have a look at the new redesigned look of Google Chrome.
We are going to discuss how a user can enable the new material design theme on Chrome on Windows, so let's begin:
All of you must have an idea that at any given point when Google is testing new features for its products, then the tech giant uses a different version of the products as a testing ground for its latest ideas. In case of Chrome, the testing ground is Google Chrome Canary, which the users need to download prior using the new feature. Further, the new material design theme can be accessed at the moment only on the Google Chrome Canary version 68 on Windows, so the users need to update Chrome Canary if it's not been done already.
Following are the steps to enable the new material design theme on Chrome for Windows:
1. In the first step a user needs to launch the Google Chrome Canary on their Windows device and open the Chrome flags by simply copy-pasting the link mention below in their web browser's address bar:
chrome://flags
Google Chrome flags is a way by which the users can enable experimental features, so a user might see a warning from Google, however, users don't need to worry as the changes are reversible
2. In the next step, a user needs to select the search field on the flags page and search for "top-chrome-md" flag(without the quotation marks).
3. After following the Step 2, a user needs to click on the drop-down menu which is placed next to the Chrome flag and select "Refresh".
4. In this step the user only needs to click on the " Relaunch Now" tab and the Chrome will relaunch with a new material design.
5. Now, all you need to do is to click on the "Relaunch Now" button and your Chrome will relaunch with the new material design.
